Newark Southern Link Road
Now open!
The Southern Link Road, successfully completed and opened in April 2026, delivered by Urban and Civic master developers. The road was made possible with £20m Levelling Up Fund 1 grant secured by Newark and Sherwood District Council in 2020 and supported by the Newark Town Board.
The road, completed in April 2026, connects the A1 to the A46, thereby providing a crucial transport link to ensure the delivery of the entire consented development and the associated economic activity in the Land South of Newark. The Link Road will ease congestion on the existing routes through Newark and provide the main access through the southern area of the town.
The project was identified as a key priority in the Town Investment Plan submitted by Newark Town Board to secure the Towns Fund grant in 2020. The subsequent Levelling Up Fund 1 grant, aimed at large-scale transport schemes, means that the Southern Link Road is not included within the Local Regeneration Fund and is instead administered by the Department for Transport, but still takes its place as an important part of the overall ambitions for Newark to grow and thrive.
Thanks go to all the public and private sector partners involved in this project, including Newark and Sherwood District Council, Urban and Civic, Nottinghamshire County Council, Homes England and National Highways to name but a few.
